Miss Kathleen McCandless - 2nd Grade
Hello, I am
Kathleen McCandless the second grade teacher. I grew up in the Chippewa
Valley graduating from UW Eau Claire with a bachelors degree in biology
and a minor in math. The tug to teach drew me back to school where I
attended UW Stout graduating with a degree in early childhood. Upon
graduation I substitute taught for two years. In addition, at my local
parish, I have prepared children for the sacraments.
I believe
children need to learn in an environment that is developmentally
appropriate as well as challenging while being surrounded by Christian
values. My goal is to help each child to develop the curiosity and
skills needed to become lifelong learners and followers of Christ.
Second grade
is an exciting year! The children will continue to develop reading and
math skills. They will study life cycles and the planets in science.
Social studies will provide map skills and knowledge about the lives of
children in other countries. In math, the children will use math facts
to learn how to solve complicated addition and subtraction problems.
They will even start learning some multiplication. Second grade ends
with being welcomed to the table of the Lord to celebrate First
Communion!
St. Joseph is
a wonderful place to share the word of God with the youngest members of
our faith and I feel blessed to be a part of the staff.
May the Lord
bless you and keep you,
Kathleen McCandless
