Bullying Policy
LSP 5509(from St. Joseph School: Policy and Regulation Handbook)
·
Bullying is
defined as an overt act by one or more students on school grounds and at
school-sponsored activities that are intended to ridicule, humiliate, or
intimidate another student.
·
If the bullying
takes place off school grounds and affects staff or students during school
hours, the school may take consequential action.
·
We will not
tolerate behavior that infringes upon the safety of any student through
intimidation or harassment through words or actions. Such behavior
includes direct physical contact, verbal assaults such as teasing or
name-calling, and social isolation or manipulation.
·
Staff and students
will be trained to recognize bullying.
·
Students, staff,
and parents will sign a pledge to work as a team to avoid bullying.
·
We expect students
and/or staff to immediately report incidents of bullying as defined.
·
Students/parents
will report bullying to staff or administration and an investigation will
be conducted.
·
Consequential
action will be taken if bullying is found to be true. (See Discipline
Code Rules LSR 5601)
