Confirmation Resources
Service to Our Community
It is important for everyone to live our their Catholic faith through service to others. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, ""Participation" is the voluntary and generous engagement of a person in social interchange. It is necessary that all participate, each according to his position and role, in promoting the common good. This obligation is inherent in the dignity of the human person." (CCC 1913)
Sponsor & Mentor Information
Similar to a sponsor (typically called a godparent) in the sacrament of Baptism, a Confirmation sponsor is a person who mentors, encourages and assists a candidate to embrace and actively practice the Catholic faith before and after the sacrament of Confirmation. The sponsor also presents the candidate to the Bishop, or his delegate, at the celebration of Confirmation Mass.
Confirmation Saint
We choose a Confirmation saint (like we choose a Confirmation sponsor) not out of due diligence to the “rule,” but rather because we realize how unfortunate it would be to travel alone. We recognize how important it is to know your Confirmation saint not only by name, but also by story. The saints have so much to teach us about this journey.
